Description
Description
The Sram GX 10-speed rear derailleur enables you to crisply shift through all 10 gears on your cassette. The Exact Actuation technology is partly responsible for that. It ensures that the derailleur moves with a 1 to 1 ratio with the shifter cable. This makes the derailleur very direct and responsive. The GX 10-speed can be used with all other Sram 10 speed components.
Cage Lock™:
Cage Lock makes installing your chain or swapping your wheel a lot easier. This is done by pressing the cage forward and locking it with a button.
Roller Bearing Clutch™:
This technology ensures optimal stability for your drive train, even on the roughest terrain. This technique eliminates unwanted derailleur movement and chain slap without sacrificing shift precision.
• Exact-Actuation ensures accurate and constant shifts
• Roller Bearing Clutch prevents chain slap and Ghost Shifting
• The Cage lock makes it easy to remove the derailleur and swap a wheel
• Material: aluminium cage, sealed industrial bearings
• Largest cog medium cage: max. 32T 2x10 only)
• Largest cog long cage: max. 36T (2x10 or 3x10)
• Weight: +/- 302 grams (Long cage)
To loosen and tighten the bolt that attaches the gear cable to the derailleur, you will need a 5 mm Allen key. These can be found here.
Disassembling the chain
Before you can remove the derailleur, you must remove the chain. How to do this you can read here. For this you need a chain rivet tool, which you can find here. Make sure you get the right brand and number of speed.
Use assembly paste to mount
When you mount your new rear derailleur, you should put some assembly paste on the threads of the derailleur pad. You can buy this from here.
Mounting derailleur pulleys
To fit derailleur pulleys you need a 2.5 mm or 3 mm Allen key. A handy Allen key can be found here.
A common problem is a warped derailleur hanger. This can be caused by the derailleur coming into contact with something hard, for example during a fall. Fortunately, this can be repaired! Find out more here.
Make sure you clean your derailleur pulleys too!
Like the chain, derailleur pulleys get very dirty. This makes for a less enjoyable ride and doesn't help with the durability of your drivetrain. Therefore, when cleaning the chain and / or oiling the chain, it is advisable to also clean the derailleur pulleys. Do this by gently turning the chain while you run a cloth along the derailleur wheel. However, at some point the derailleur wheels will be worn out. Visit our blog to find out when to replace your derailleur pulleys and which ones you need.
